HISTORY:

21 years ago the two founders, Beverley Olbers and Rene van Meygaarden, (being identical twins), were inspired to develop Mother of Peace.  Realising that family life was being eroded by various circumstances, they wanted to start a community of people/families who would live together on a large property and take in orphaned and vulnerable children and give them a family.

The children are cared for in a family home, with parents/parent, caregivers and a housekeeper.

These homes are built around a prayer chapel.

All the children are provided with either an academic or skills education.

Mother of Peace needs to create self sustaining communities that:

  • Are based on Christian values – as the basis for personal, family and community strength
  • Propagate and grow family life and structures
  • Support the heritage, language and culture of the children
  • Care for children that are orphaned, vulnerable and affected / infected by HIV / AIDS
  • Provide all the education, skills and opportunities needed to empower them to become responsible members of society.

Interest has been shown  in starting a Mother of Peace community in various other areas, eg.  Bulawayo, the Cape, Canada and Reunion.

As Beverley, the founder, lives in Gauteng,  North Riding is the Main Community.
